Record number of lighting companies exhibit at Elfack: “We found the right place!”

A record 82 companies with lighting products and services will exhibit at Elfack 2025.

– Fantastic fun! It’s important that we stand together, not least to show the importance of efficient and sustainable solutions, says Mikael Castanius, CEO of the Lighting Industry.

This year’s Elfack, 6-9 May at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, brings together more than 420 exhibitors, consolidating its position as northern Europe’s largest meeting place for electricity, energy and lighting. One thing that stands out is the sharp increase in attendance on the lighting side, where 82 Swedish and foreign companies have booked stands.

– This is a record and very gratifying! In all my years, we have not even been close to that figure, Mikael Castanius says.

More relevant event

Mikael believes that Elfack has become increasingly relevant to lighting companies.

– There is much more talk about Elfack in the industry than there was in the past.

– Traditionally, many have regarded Elfack as a fair focused on electricians and installers. That image has changed, and the outlook has become more important for the lighting industry. For example, with the current phase-out of fluorescent lamps, there is immense value in getting in touch with electricians.

The vision: an optimal fair

Mikael sees an increased sense of purpose in the industry.

– For the lighting industry, it has been especially important to find a fair. We have searched long and hard and even tried to make our own fairs in a smaller design – without finding the right solution, he says.

He notes that the lighting industry and Elfack share the same vision:

– We want to have the optimal lighting fair in Sweden. By working in close co-operation, we have reached a solution that many people feel comfortable with and are prepared to evaluate. And this will be incredibly interesting.

The industry stands united

Mikael Castanius also emphasises the importance of the meeting place for industry players to network and discuss common challenges.

– This year, for example, the Swedish Energy Agency is talking about important issues for the industry, such as the phasing out of fluorescent lamps and mercury. Getting this kind of message out, at times like this, is incredibly important!

– Elfack gives us the opportunity to show that the industry is united on these issues, together with the authorities and politicians. I want it to be a talking point at the fair: “Yes, the fluorescent tubes are disappearing!”

Networking without borders

Sustainable, innovative and cost-effective solutions also feature prominently in the on-stage programmes at Elfack, with the participation of industry associations.

– As the CEO of the Electrical Equipment Suppliers (Elmateriel Leverantörerna) I have also seen increased co-operation between the trade associations over the past year. We’ll have an excellent opportunity to network across industry boundaries at Elfack, Mikael says.

– The information and discussions on these important issues at Elfack affect us all. We want to see member companies that are not exhibiting attend as visitors, so they can also participate in the conversation.
