Hitachi Energy and dLab Win the Swedish Energy Prize 2025 – “Solving Urgent Energy Challenges”
The Swedish Energy Prize 2025 has been awarded. Hitachi Energy took home the jury’s award with its innovative hydrogen generator, HyFlex™, while dLab won the visitors’ choice with its revolutionary power grid analytics platform. The awards were presented at Elfack, along with an honorary mention from the jury which went to Amiga.
At Elfack 2025, the Nordic’s leading event for future energy solutions, three prestigious prizes were presented: the Swedish Energy Prize in two categories – the jury’s choice and the visitors’ award. In addition, the jury presented an honorary mention. Together, these awards highlight innovation, sustainability, and real-world impact in the energy sector, aiming to stimulate innovation and accelerate the energy transition.
Swedish Energy Prize: Jury’s Choice
It is now official that Hitachi Energy has won the jury’s choice in the Swedish Energy Prize 2025 with its hydrogen generator, HyFlex™. In a highly competitive field, Hitachi Energy stood out for its ability to concretely reduce emissions, contribute to energy flexibility, and enable sustainable electricity supply even in areas with limited grid access.
– Winning this award is a huge recognition for us and everyone who has worked on this. It’s great that people also appreciate what we’ve done and see the opportunities and problems this can solve moving forward. We’ve worked in a small, agile project team. Being a large company, that’s been both challenging and rewarding, says Thomas Einarsson, Business Developer at Hitachi Energy.
Swedish Energy Prize: Visitors’ Choice
The Swedish Energy Prize also includes a visitors’ award. In 2025, this went to dLab and its power grid analytics platform. A groundbreaking solution that transforms grid data into real-time insights and identifies disturbances before they become problems. The platform helps grid operators prevent faults, reduce outages, and integrate renewable energy, critical steps for a sustainable energy system.
– After 15 years of working with grid data, it feels amazing to receive this recognition. Digitizing the power grid is a massive task. Our strength lies in converting complex technical data into a user-friendly system that benefits the entire grid, from operations to customer interface. It’s about thinking long-term and making complex data accessible and useful, says Johan Martinsson, Sales Manager at dLab.
Special Honorary Mention from the jury
Among the nine finalists was Amiga with its solution Amiga Reuse, which received this year’s honorary mention from the jury. Amiga Reuse extends the life of temporary electrical products through take-back, repair, and reuse. By creating circular flows, Amiga Reuse has addressed a major problem in the construction industry. What was historically considered waste is now a resource, reducing climate impact and saving materials, energy, and costs.
– This honorary mention means a great deal to us. It’s proof that we’re doing something right. That we’re onto something big that we believed in ourselves. We’ve seen the throwaway culture problem in the construction industry. To solve it, we’re making reuse accessible through this circular business model, says Kristian Skoog, CEO of Amiga.
The Swedish Energy Prize is supported by Energimyndigheten, RISE, Chalmers, Innovatum Science Park, EIT InnoEnergy, Installatörsföretagen, and Energieffektiviseringsföreningen, following an initiative from Elfack and Svenska Mässan.
– The Swedish Energy Prize highlights the innovation and dedication driving Sweden’s energy transition forward. At Elfack, we see it as a natural part of our mission to highlight the players leading the way toward a more sustainable energy future, says Anna Jarnö, Business Manager of Elfack.
