Oil filled cables have been for years essential element of any distribution system in urban areas. After several decades oil filled cables are being now decommissioned which possess challenge to organize the process in a safe way for the environment. Big volumes of oil remain in the insulating paper matrix which are very difficult to remove and are critical risk to soil and ground water if the cables are out of service. Bionrec offers patented technology ODB System allowing removal of over 95% of the remaining oil from the old cables with the use of bacteria injection into the paper matrix. The technology is so effective that cables after treatment are completely clean and can be left safely in the ground.
